Our Origination department is seeking to recruit a Pricing and Funded Reinsurance Manager, reporting to our Head of Pricing and Funded Reinsurance who is responsible for optimising pricing, playing a leading role in developing PIC’s Pricing assumptions and Funded Reinsurance strategy.
The role will:
- drive implementation of assumptions and strategies, providing market and technical knowledge to aid cross-departmental projects in both pricing and Funded Reinsurance areas, as well as taking on a senior Deal Lead role on select new business transactions; and
- support the Head of Pricing and Funded Reinsurance as well as supporting all senior Deal Leads in the team on larger transactions from a pricing and Funded Reinsurance perspective; and
- be a key participant in executing new Funded Reinsurance arrangements and onboarding new counterparties
The role requires the ability to effectively collaborate with members of the Origination team, along with other key functions around the business, specifically; Risk, Investments and Finance to secure their buy-in and implement improvements to systems, processes, and technology, as appropriate.
You will apply knowledge and insights concerning the development of pricing assumptions and the use and implementation of Funded Reinsurance and how this impacts our shareholders and policyholders. You will also deliver strong business outcomes relating to capital, profitability, the Company brand and market reputation whilst achieving positive outcomes for our policyholders and shareholders on a consistent basis.

Your specific accountabilities will be:
- Conducts thorough analysis of quotations from the reinsurance market to develop opportunities for new business transactions.
- Responsible for ensuring existing Funded Reinsurance treaties are maintained and collateral is monitored on an ongoing basis.
- Prepare comprehensive reports reflective of the intended audience that demonstrate sound analysis and recommendations for new funded reinsurance arrangements as part of the new business strategy.
- Effectively collaborates with other members of the Origination team, Reinsurance, Finance, and Investments to understand the impact of proposals on the wider business.
- Developing working relationships with existing and new funded reinsurance counterparties.
- Takes ownership for their own learning and development in both technical (e.g. data analysis and critical judgement) and non-technical (self-insight and relationship management) skills of reinsurance and new business pricing.
- Keeps informed of industry trends, market developments, regulatory changes in the public and private sectors, as well as best practices related to funded reinsurance and bulk annuities by attending industry seminars, reading, and sharing relevant published articles.
Requirements
Experience:
- Qualified Actuary
- Experience in developing pricing assumptions
- Experience of delivering new structural partnerships
Knowledge:
- Good technical knowledge of defined benefit pensions and reinsurance market
- Established knowledge of data and mortality analysis
- Familiar with reinsurance pricing and collateral arrangements
- Deep understanding of longevity risk
- Understanding of Solvency II and Solvency UK
Skills:
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to build and develop relationships
- Ability to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
- Ability to manage people and other resources effectively
- Ability to organize work to meet competing deadlines
- Ability to work within defined procedures as recommended by functional teams
- Commercial judgement
- Good working knowledge of MS software, accounting software beneficial but not essential (e.g. RAFM)
