Job Description Apply: Pricing Actuary
Goodman Masson are working with a leading life insurance company that is searching for a Pricing Actuary to support the growth ambitions of the UK life branch. The Pricing team is responsible for Longevity, Protection and Structured reinsurance pricing, negotiating commercial terms both internally and with clients, as well as basis development work. Therefore, the successful candidate should be open to and will have the opportunity to get exposure to all business lines.
Our client is looking for individuals who are technical experts in at least one of these core lines of business, namely protection, structured reinsurance and longevity. Relevant experience in the pricing of deals is desirable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead in delivering quotes across all business lines
- Serve as a technical expert and primary contact for protection, structured reinsurance, longevity, modelling, and basis development
- Propose and facilitate commercial negotiations internally and with clients
- Contribute to process enhancements for efficiency and competitiveness
- Develop client-focused relationships and branch-wide networks
- Ensure accurate and timely work delivery within tight deadlines
General duties and tasks:
- Determine best estimate bases for protection and longevity quotations
- Conduct peer reviews and provide guidance to junior team members
- Offer technical input for product development and pricing tools maintenance
- Enhance expertise in reinsurance pricing and represent the team to senior management and other departments
- Foster commercial awareness and successful teamwork within the branch
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Substantial experience in the UK insurance market, preferably in reinsurance and pricing
- Ability to diplomatically challenge peers and manage upwards.
- Effective communication with stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds and seniority levels
- Aptitude for understanding internal and external client strategies and needs
- Quick grasp of new concepts and effective communication with colleagues
- Strong analytical skills and judgment capabilities
- Knowledge of pricing processes, bases, and modelling methodologies
- Team player mindset with strong organizational and lateral thinking skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word, with desirable programming skills in R, Basic VBA, or similar
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- Nearly Qualified / Qualified Actuary
