Join Mercer as an Investment Consultant in London and you could put your personal and professional stamp on one of the world’s most influential investment teams.
You will be the lead consultant for a portfolio of corporate clients, advising on the full range of Mercer’s investment services. You will manage the strategic design and implementation of Mercer’s investment solutions and develop business with new and existing clients.
Key activities:
- Acting as the lead consultant for small to medium clients (typical asset size between £100m - £250m) as well as lead support for larger complex clients.
- Leading, attending and actively participating at client meetings driving investment issues and offering tailored consultative advice.
- Generating revenue by expanding the
- range of services offered to existing clients and/or participation in new business presentations.
- Promoting Mercer investment services across the other business areas (Retirement Consulting etc.).
- Working with other Mercer business lines to deliver sophisticated technical advice and a streamlined service to clients.
- Take the client strategic agenda forward by developing appropriate investment strategy, structure and manager arrangements to manage all elements of investment risk.
- Keeping clients informed of major developments within the industry and legislative change.
- Determining client requirements and briefing analysts as appropriate, providing the direction and guidance required to ensure excellent client service.
- Providing peer review advice for colleagues.
- Contributing to Mercer’s intellectual capital process and proactively taking the consulting agenda to clients.
- Ensure all peer review, professionalism and compliance processes are understood and followed.
- Actively participating in new business proposals/presentations.
- Acting as a mentor and role model to colleagues thereby creating an environment that achieves both individual and team accomplishments.
Qualifications
Skills required for this role include:
- Experience of offering consultative strategic investment advice to pension clients.
- Strong intellect with exceptional examination track record.
- Previous experience within an investment or retirement consulting background is essential.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Studying towards the actuarial or CFA qualification (or recently completed).
- Strong numerical reasoning, analytical skills and ability to work through tasks in a logical manner.
- Exceptional technical investment skills.
- Self-motivation and an ability to work independently in a small but high performing team.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, manage multiple priorities and work in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment, ensuring standards and deadlines are met and keeping others informed and up-to-date.
- Ability to work as part of a team and build strong working relationships with peers, colleagues and other Mercer businesses.
- Ability to understand the link between data, client needs and its application to the “bigger picture”.
