Job Description Apply: Interim SMF23 Chief Underwriting Officer
**Option to work remotely is available
The position will be offered likely on a 12 month interim basis, so interest is sought from both professional interims as well as perhaps those serving their notice (or available immediately). The ideal start date is Sep-Dec 2019.
The role will be a regulated one and you will have responsibility for the Chief Underwriting Office function with the PRA (ie you will be an SMF23 under the Senior Manager’s regime). The team will have 8 direct reports and 50 indirect reports, and the team’s remit covers pricing (technical and street), aggregators, underwriting, commercial negotiations etc.
The client will be happy to have a mix of working from home with working on site in the UK regional market. The successful candidate will either be a qualified actuary with extensive personal lines pricing experience, or a numerically minded Director of Underwriting/Pricing. Strong communication skills are a given, but the most important quality is the ability to work in an environment marked by change and uncertainty.
Due to the sensitivity of the assignment (which is exclusive and retained), we cannot provide more information publicly but will be happy to do so in writing.
