We are going through a period of growth and change across our business, which provides significant opportunity individuals who join us. A newly created vacancy has arisen within our FP&A department, which sits in our wider Finance function. The key accountabilities and responsibilities of our FP&A department include business planning, in-year forecasting, competitor analysis, supporting business performance management and providing insight for Remuneration Committee.
We are recruiting for a qualified actuary whose role will aim to ensure that FP&A delivers relevant and timely insight to Finance / ExCo / Board to support effective decision making.
Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Actuary within the FP&A team:
- Assist the preparation of and the maintaining the weekly Solvency Monitoring tool
- Support in the preparation of regular forecasts and business plan for PIC’s senior management and shareholders, delivering draft forecasts to senior members of the team
- Support analysis of competitors’ results, delivering components of analysis to senior members of the team as required
- Support addressing of ad-hoc queries from shareholders and other key stakeholders, performing analysis and preparing first drafts of responses
- Takes ownership for their own learning and development in both technical (e.g. data analysis and critical judgement) and non-technical (self-insight and relationship management) skills
Requirements
Experience:
- Qualified actuary
- Desirable: experience in working in a commercially-minded FP&A team or business partnering function within a UK life insurance environment
Knowledge:
- Good technical knowledge of financial reporting in a UK life insurance environment
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, MS Powerpoint and Word
- Desirable: knowledge of UK DB pensions and/or bulk annuities and competence in use of actuarial modelling software, e.g. RAFM
Skills:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills. Ideally, analysis and investigation of financial results from actuarial models
- Strong communication skills; in particular, the ability to convey messages behind financial impacts
- Good commercial judgement
- Ability to organize work to meet deadlines
- Ability to work within defined procedures as recommended by functional teams
