Job Description Apply: Consultant Actuary (Pensions Redress)
The role will include a wide variety of actuarial assignments across the OAC business within the pensions sector.
All our employees work from home but should be prepared to travel to clients in the UK to support project work, new business development, and training. The role requires experience and the ability to develop in the following areas:
- Advanced understanding of how final salary pension schemes and other company pension arrangements work.
- Advanced understanding of the different types of charging structures that different pension schemes, personal pension and other personal investment products may have.
- Advanced level of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to follow complex calculations and to set up new calculations.
- An understanding of calculations of a complex nature, often deciding on a method from first principles and producing reports for these changes.
- Strong communication skills – to be able to explain complex calculations, both verbally and in reports, in such a way that can be understood by those without the same level of technical skill.
- Specification and testing of changes and amendments to our propriety OACIS calculators.
- Maintain a good knowledge of current legislation and regulation and define specifications for calculator updates.
- Some input to expert witness work may be required, performing technical calculations and preparing statements on how the calculations have been prepared.
- Able to work in a small team including non-actuaries, supporting and learning from the consultants in the team.
- A person willing to engage on a range of different issues even outside their natural sphere of expertise.
- Previous experience of regulatory led business reviews and remediation projects would be an advantage.
