Job Description Apply: Actuarial Assistant Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Actuarial professional to join their Bristol office. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing, developing, and testing actuarial models and processes.
Your responsibilities will include collaborating with internal stakeholders and projects to gather and refine their requirements. You will also conduct informative show-and-tell sessions to keep stakeholders updated throughout the development process.
Working closely with the team of Model Developers, Technical Leads, and Product Owners, you will consolidate all changes for release and facilitate the transition of final models and tools into production.
Responsibilities:
- Implementing code modifications to the Prophet model, conducting thorough testing, and meticulously documenting all changes
- Enhancing our assumption manager tools, which involve a combination of Excel utilities, an R script, and updates to reference data
- Conducting comprehensive testing of Model Point file alterations developed by external teams, ensuring the validation of their impact by running them through the Prophet model
- Testing modifications to our process for incorporating 'out of model adjustments' into the main model
- Orchestrating integration activities to consolidate multiple developments into a single version of the model and associated tools, ready for release into Live production, a biannual occurrence
- Investigating inquiries raised by customer teams to comprehend the model's functionality and identify any potential defects
About you:
- An actuary who is either part-qualified or recently qualified
- Experience in life insurance or pensions
- Proficiency in applying actuarial concepts and techniques
- Capable of identifying significant or unforeseen outcomes and delving into root causes
- Strong communication, analytical, and Excel skills
- Desirable, but not essential, experience with coding in Prophet, R, or other actuarial software
- Any experience in these areas would be highly advantageous
- Confident and proactive in interpersonal communication
- Naturally curious, demonstrating a propensity for asking probing questions to deepen comprehension
- Committed to continuously improving processes
