Job Description Apply: Senior Catastrophe Modeller

Role Purpose

  • To establish an in-house catastrophe modelling function at a leading Broker, developing their reputation with clients and markets as the broker of choice for catastrophe modelling.
  • To run and maintain catastrophe models on a day-to-day basis, performing analysis to support the assessment, (re)insurance placement, and monitoring of clients’ exposures.

Role deliverables

Primary deliverables:

  • Run natural catastrophe models centrally for various business streams, analysing catastrophe exposures to support the wider analytics offering to its clients
  • Lead the interpretation and communication of modelling results with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and through formal reports/presentations, to a very high standard

Supporting deliverables:

  • Establish processes to provide model output information on both periodic and ad-hoc bases
  • Implement robust documentation, data cleansing and data manipulation practices to ensure accuracy and relevance of model outputs and assumptions, clearly explaining any limitations of outputs
  • Liaise with their central Business Change team to enrich the existing reporting platform for coverholder exposures, accessible by clients and underwriters, with catastrophe model outputs
  • Ensure continued personal technical development through professional training, maintaining awareness of developments in the catastrophe modelling field to ensure
  • Making sure the catastrophe model they offer remains market leading
  • Manage competing priorities from internal clients to appropriately meet the business’s needs
