Job Description Apply: Manager, GI Technical Provisions

We are looking for part qualified/qualified general insurance actuaries, with at least 5yrs experience to join a leading insurer on a 12 month fixed term contract. The role will be based in the South West of England. 

The role is responsible for fulfilling statutory and regulatory responsibilities in respect of GI Technical Provisions, including developing and implementing best practice to ensure SarbOx and Technical Actuarial Standards are satisfied.

Accountabilities:

  • Recommending best estimate levels of claims reserves and identifying, managing and monitoring associated reserving risks for all GI insurance entities as appropriate.
  • Ensuring the Actuarial team satisfy all statutory and regulatory requirements in respect of non-life technical provisions, liaising with relevant Risk, Group Audit and Insurance colleagues and external Assurance partners.
  • Ensuring the GI Provisions team comply with all internal governance and controls, in particular Model Governance and SoX.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with business areas to ensure they understand the drivers impacting the levels of reserves required.
  • Ensuring the Actuarial Claims team comply with actuarial requirements, especially compliance with relevant Technical Actuarial Standards (TAS’s).
  • Develop and implement best practice documentation.
  • Developing Assumptions and Methodology in respect of claims reserving risks.
  • Develop, implement and maintain an appropriate Stress & Scenario Testing process.
  • Responsible for relevant reports for the appropriate Boards and Committees, and external business partners.

Key Capabilities/Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated track record in a managerial role in an Insurance Business with significant responsibility in reserving or capital modelling.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
  • FIA, FFA or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience of operating at a managerial level within a formal governance arrangement in a regulated industry.
  • Proven team and/or stakeholder management skills, with ability to manage an actuarial team to meet/ exceed business needs.
