PIC has a fantastic opportunity for an Actuary to join its Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team within its Finance department on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract basis with the aim of ensuring FP&A delivers relevant and timely insight to Finance / ExCo / Board to support effective decision making.
The role requires the ability to effectively collaborate with Finance, Origination, Investments, Risk etc. You will further apply knowledge and insights concerning FP&A activities and how these impact our policyholders and shareholders, delivering strong business outcomes relating to capital, profitability, the Company brand and market reputation whilst achieving positive outcomes to our policyholders and shareholders on a consistent basis.

Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Actuary within the FP&A team:
- Assist the preparation of and the maintaining the weekly Solvency Monitoring tool
- Support in the preparation of regular forecasts and business plan for PIC’s senior management and shareholders, delivering draft forecasts to senior members of the team
- Support analysis of competitors’ results, delivering components of analysis to senior members of the team as required
- Support addressing of ad-hoc queries from shareholders and other key stakeholders, performing analysis and preparing first drafts of responses
- Takes ownership for their own learning and development in both technical (e.g. data analysis and critical judgement) and non-technical (self-insight and relationship management) skills.
Requirements
Experience:
- Qualified actuary
- Desirable: experience in working in a commercially-minded FP&A team or business partnering function within a UK life insurance environment
Skills:
- Strong organisational skills and communication skills
- Ability to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
- Ability to organize work to meet deadlines
- Ability to work within defined procedures as recommended by functional teams
- Commercial judgement
- Good working knowledge of MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Word
Knowledge:
- Good technical knowledge of financial reporting in a UK life insurance environment.
- Desirable: knowledge of UK DB pensions and/or bulk annuities.
- Desirable: Competence in use of actuarial modelling software, e.g. RAFM
