Job Description

Aviva is one of the world’s largest insurance companies with a strong reputation for market leading retirement services in the UK. We are an established provider in the bulk annuity market, and to reflect the continued growth in demand for de-risking products, a variety of opportunities have become available in our Bulk Purchase Annuity (BPA) team. These range from junior analyst roles ideal for successful maths graduates, to senior analyst roles suitable for individuals with strong defined benefit pensions knowledge and an actuarial or pensions background.  All roles require you to work as part of a successful team, have an eye for detail and a desire to win.

About the roles

Joining our varied BPA team as one of our analysts, you’ll get to grips with a range of exciting projects – projects that you’ll have the chance to own from start to finish. Drawing on strong analysis skills, you’ll gather insight and use it to support Deal Managers in the preparation of BPA quotations for consideration by trustees. That means carrying out data manipulation, pension benefit analysis, premium calculations and sense checking. It also means interacting with clients, having a real input at every stage of the project and taking the opportunity to shape bulk purchase annuity solutions. As a leading company in a fast developing market, we have plenty of opportunities for growth for those with the necessary drive and ambition. Or if you’re content at your current level, we’ll be on hand to help you get the most from your role too.

About you

For the junior roles, you’ll have a mathematical-based degree, strong analytical and Excel skills, and the enthusiasm to learn about a fast developing market.

For the more senior roles, you’ll be an experienced analyst with a background in defined benefit pensions.  Ideally you’ll be a part-qualified actuary (or equivalent experience) with a strong technical understanding of defined benefit schemes.  Some knowledge of the bulk annuity market would be an advantage.

Actuarial study support is available if you’re interested sitting the exams but is not a requirement of the roles.

BPA is a developing market so whatever your role you’ll also need the enthusiasm and passion to help us take our operation to the next level. Liaising with various stakeholders both internally and externally calls for great communication skills. But just as importantly, you’ll be ready and willing to work in the beautiful city of York.

About your rewards

Your flexible package enables you to tailor your rewards so you can get even more from working at Aviva. These roles also include a discretionary bonus subject to company performance. You’ll also have the advantage of living and working in the city of York – a vibrant city that’s steeped in ancient history, surrounded by beautiful countryside and offering a lower cost of living than the south.

About Aviva

We’re here to free people from fear of uncertainty. Our insurance, savings and investment products help some 31 million customers enjoy life today, knowing that tomorrow is covered. And we definitely know how to look after our own people. If you love doing a great job to improve things for customers, you’ll be at home here. Help us build a future to be proud of and get ready to fulfil your potential with Aviva.
