Experience/Knowledge
It  anticipated that the successful candidate is likely to l have at least 10 years life insurance/actuarial experience  and if not already holiding fellowship of the society of actuaries will be able to quickly obtain it.

You will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining quality control on actuarial modeling work including Embedded Values (in accord with principles specified by parent), Economic Capital, Cash Flow Testing and Deal Models for  transactions.  Provide actuarial support and input to capital management initiatives.

  1. Ensure that Embedded Values with all of the necessary analyses and suitable explanations are prepared in a timely manner in accord with the specified principles.  
  2. By working with Finance and Valuation, ensure that variances (ie actual to model, actual to Triton and model to Triton) in short term statutory projections are fully understood; as is any discontinuity compared to historic trends.  Similarly, work with Tax Department on projections of taxable income.
  3. Oversee all aspects of economic capital project from an actuarial perspective. Liaise with other areas to ensure their roles in EC are understood and provide training to senior management and board  as required.
  4. Ensure that all of the work necessary for the Chief Actuary to attest to the adequacy of reserves and demonstrations of compliance with model regs 815 and 830, are performed in an accurate and timely manner.  This includes preparation of the Actuarial Memorandums and reports
  5.  Perform annual review of assumptions used in embedded value reporting and cash flow     testing.  Document findings and recommendations.  
  6. Responsible for the maintenance of deal models for  transactions and ensuring that the deal model projections suitably reflect the terms of the transactions and the then current economic environment. 
  7. Perform one-off projects and assignments as required.  This is a very significant part of the job and quite wide ranging (i.e. could include projects capital planning, input to tax strategy, investment strategy etc.).  
  8. Oversee the development of staff in the Corporate Actuarial section.
