Job Description Apply: Actuarial Consultant, Life (Newly Qualified)

Through your consulting skills and business development knowledge you will be applying different methods and practices depending on cultural and business needs. Being a thought leader and actively contributing to operational efficiency on all projects and internal initiatives, you will consistently drive projects to high quality completion.

Under the guidance of more experienced consultants, you will lead engagements, keeping a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks, and escalating issues as appropriate.

Actuarial Managers will be expected to develop a number of areas of technical excellence, participating in research and development required to support the growth of these fields of expertise. You'll be responsible for the management of key projects to clients, typically covering technical skills in a range of Actuarial disciplines from Pricing, through to Capital and Risk Management.

Ideally your background will include a track record with a blue chip consulting firm (or experience in stakeholder management gained within industry) where you have developed your profile in client and industry activities, specifically in business development. Essential is a strong academic record.

 

Technical skills requirements

 

Actuarial Managers will be expected to develop a number of areas of technical excellence. You'll participate in the research and development required to support the growth of these fields of expertise. You'll be responsible for the management of these key projects to clients. The fields of excellence typically cover technical skills in a number of the following areas:

Pricing
Liability Valuation & Reserving
Capital and Risk Management
Alternative Investments
Moses Modelling
Mergers & Acquisition Advice
Shareholder Value
Economic Value Management
Claims Advisory Services
Customer Analytics
Pensions Strategy
Pension Liability and accrual valuation

Such technical expertise being used to:

Contribute to development of capability in these area
Engage with clients regarding the application of these methodologies to their business

Additional skills requirements

Track record with a blue chip consulting firm and/or a blue chip firm
Developing industry profile through client and industry activities
Experience in business development
Strong academic record including a degree and professional actuarial

Client responsibilities

Participate in Actuarial engagements
Assist in managing the financial aspects of engagements by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders
Participate in business development initiatives
Build strong internal relationships within Advisory and across other services

People responsibilities

Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff
Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff
Contribute to people initiatives, including recruiting, retaining and training actuarial professionals Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills
Able to manage and work effectively in teams
